Mission
Our mission is to create a sustainable agribusiness/ecotourism resort and working farm that utilize solutions that enhance soil, plant, animal, and human health, and to educate others in that mission.
Vision
Our vision is to create healthier soil, plants and animals, to facilitate the most locally sourced, best nutrition, to ensure healthier people and a healthier earth while creating economic opportunity in rural and urban communities through regenerative agriculture.
Without sufficient organic matter, soil cannot support microbial life or plant life without vast amounts of imported inputs. Two-thirds of conventional corn and wheat cropland soils have been depleted to less than two percent organic matter, limiting yields and requiring injections of chemical inputs. This is food production on life support, ignoring the vast potential for creating healthy food by healing the land. But there is another way.
Permaculture or regenerative agriculture is a system of farming principles that rehabilitates the entire ecosystem and enhances natural resources, rather than depleting them. It is an agricultural ecosystem that is sustainable and self-sufficient.
Regenerative agricultural practices that support soil carbon sequestration include:
Regenerative agriculture is focused on outcomes and practices
that ensure outcomes: these interlinked practices support soil life and minimize erosion by retaining biomass from a wide variety of living and dead roots, shoots, and microbes, which work together to sequester carbon.
Provide a dynamic model for organic, ecologically-designed, high-production farming techniques on small acreages with minimal use of energy and water, beneficial recycling and composting of waste materials, and integration of multiple components including orchards, poultry, livestock, bees, plant guilds, food forests, composting, and natural building.
Provide Regenerative Agriculture Design Courses for local, state, national and international students; to provide agricultural engineers, farmers, and backyard gardeners as well as local, state national and international participants dry land permaculture techniques and tools.
Provide trainings, education, and resources for local people to help them reduce costs by growing more of their own food, using less energy and water, and developing micro-enterprises to supplement their income.
Provide a cross-cultural opportunity for international interns, apprentices, visitors and students to learn about the agricultural tradition within rural and urban America.
Pastured poultry is a very important part of a farm's nutrient cycling. Balanced diet and free range forage, exercise and a hygienic environment provide healthier poultry and eggs containing more omega 3 fatty acids, less cholesterol and higher levels of vitamins D, E and beta carotene.
Our approach to market gardening is to combine the best planning strategies with the best soil care strategies. This assists natural processes, virtually eliminates weeding and uses less irrigation. Providing the best tasting and most nutritionally dense vegetables and fruits.
Our selection of wild and cultivated fresh mushrooms will bring earthy flavor to all your meals. For wild mushrooms, we forage and follow the seasons. Expert cultivators grow organic mushrooms so you can enjoy our chef-quality mushrooms year round.
FRESH- Harvested the day of delivery for guaranteed quality
UNWASHED- Preserving flavor & appearance
RAW- Unprocessed and delicious
Our microgreens are grown in a controlled environment, monitoring air temperature CO2, humidity, and air circulation to provide the optimal environment for our crops to grow.
The flavor profile of our honey is greatly influenced by the nectar collected from individual flowers. Our honey is a blend of many flowers and blossoms throughout the farm gathered at different times of the year, giving it a unique flavor each harvest. With greater floral diversity, our honey provides more antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, than single varietal honey.
Grass fed
Animals are raised where they enjoy a grass-fed and grass-finished diet. They freely roam and are fed only grass and forage for their entire lives.
Humanely Raised
Our animals live their lives the way nature intended. They spend the duration of their lives freely roaming on open pastures.
Sustainable
Our animals are raised in a manner that conserves natural resources and biodiversity using systems and techniques that conserve and protect the environment.
"Good farmers, who take seriously their duties as stewards of Creation and of their land's inheritors, contribute to the welfare of society in more ways than society usually acknowledges, or even knows. These farmers produce valuable goods, of course; but they also conserve soil, they conserve water, they conserve wildlife, they conserve open space, they conserve scenery."
